Monitoring visit by Caritas International Belgium

A monitoring visit of Caritas International Belgium to Caritas Jerusalem Branch in Gaza and its Health Center has been organized from 25th to 27th of October 2016.

During this monitoring mission, the following have been done:

-Meeting the newly recruited staff for the project (the management and a part of the technical and CBO facilitators)

-Exchanging on the ongoing administrative tasks and financial procedures such as bidding for the cars, lab equipment, for the rehabilitation parts of the clinic.

-Exchanging on the monitoring system in place: Data collection tools, data entry staff, data analysis with the SPSS software, how to valorize and analyze the qualitative data.

In addition we visited:

– the “Al Shati Camp” (Beach Camp-https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Al-Shati) in Gaza city (80 000 inhabitants) with the newly recruited Caritas Field Facilator. The camp is close to the Caritas Health center and the place where we could attend the first activities proposed by Caritas: Women coming with their babies to register them in Caritas data base  in order to receive the adequate services= the Malnourished children will be followed for 3 months till their nutrition status improved (according to IMCI protocols of the WHO)/800 children from the Camp will be followed up for a total of 12 months

-the Artificial Limbs and Polio Center (ALPC) with which we will collaborate for assistive devices for 120 children presenting individual deformities (see the photos below);

-the CBO (Community Base Organization) “the Charitable Ahali Al Mawasi Society” in rural part Faraheen close to Khan Yunes. The 11 selected CBOs will be the focus location for the vulnerable rural population. They will receive from Caritas the following services: appropriate paediatric care, maternal health care, medical and healthcare services for patients with non-communicable diseases (NCDs), assistive devices for children, psycho-social support, training on woman and child rights
